About me:

I was born in Lakenheath, England, and moved to New York at a young age. I spent my formative years in New York City, where I attended and graduated from the United Nations International School. I am a Cum Laude graduate of Wellesley College and earned my medical degree with honors from Morehouse School of Medicine in Atlanta, GA.

As a New Yorker at heart, I returned to New York to complete my OB/GYN residency at Mount Sinai Medical Center. In 1999, married and pregnant, we packed our 550 sq ft apartment and chocolate lab puppy and headed south to Atlanta.

I started my career at Atlanta Gynecology & Obstetrics, a private practice in Decatur, Georgia. I specialize in Menopausal Medicine, robotic surgery, minimally invasive procedures, and complex obstetrical care. More that 25 years later, I am still there and now the managing partner of this large all-female practice.

I currently serve as an Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of OB/GYN at Morehouse School of Medicine and am an active member of Emory Decatur Hospital. I have held various leadership roles, including former Chief of the Department of OB/GYN.

I am fortunate to have been named one of Atlanta’s Top Doctors by Atlanta Magazine and was featured on the cover of the 2017 Top Docs issue.

I am married to Dr. Darwin Brown and have two daughters, Lauren and Jenna and we are now throughly enjoying empty-nesting. When not taking care of my patients, I am an avid golfer (trying to keep my single digit handicap) and a professional photographer and the owner of Dawn Brown Photography.

My latest passion is cocktail mixology, in which I have combined my expertise in menopause medicine to create “Menopause & Mocktails.” This talk explores all aspects of perimenopause and menopause, breaking down stigmas, offering evidence-based treatment options, and fostering a supportive community—all while enjoying mocktails that celebrate this transformative phase of life.

My Story

My career has been dedicated to supporting women through every stage of life—from delivering babies to performing advanced minimally invasive surgeries.

In recent years, I’ve become passionate about menopausal medicine, breaking the stigma and taboo that often surround this transformative phase. Too many women face menopause unprepared, and my mission is to change that. I focus on four key ways to support women:

Providing individualized care

I’ve restructured my practice to prioritize the unique needs of perimenopausal and menopausal patients, dedicating time to fully address their concerns beyond an annual exam.

Educating and empowering

I help women understand what’s happening to their bodies and how they can thrive during this transition.

Hosting community events

Through gatherings like the M-Factor screening and my monthly Menopause and Mocktails talks, I’m on a mission to spread the “M-word” far and wide. I believe that if you talk about menopause, someone will listen. If you talk loudly, more people will listen. And if you scream about it, people will hear, pay attention, believe you, and join you in advocating for evidence-based care.

Creating a stigma-free space

I encourage open, honest conversations to normalize menopause and reframe it as a powerful phase of life.
